Get Well My Friend

Hello Crafty Friends!

I'm still updating pics so please be patient. Moving a blog is a lot more work than I thought, but it's worth it!

Get Well My Friend....

Today, I'm sharing a Get Well card I created for a sweet friend.

I usually share my "cute and whimsical" projects from my illustrations but, I am also huge lover of flowers and Altenew definitely is my go to for Florals.

So today's project had to be different.

It's one of those situations when you feel helpless because you can't help someone you care about, but you wan to do something for them.

A handmade card almost always brings a smile to someone's face and my friends are definitely in need of some heartfelt smiles!

Rest, Relax, Recover...

So for this card, I decided to use Altenew's Get Well stamp set. I love the daisies and the tea and honey tray in this set. It was perfect.

I stamped the image with black ink and colored them with Copic Markers.

I also used Ink n' Splatter's Honey Be Sweet Pattern Paper for the background and leaves.

Watercolor Charm

Hello Friends!

Happy New Year & Welcome back to my Studio! I’m so glad you are here today!

Altenew AECP…

I’m so happy to be back again with another wonderful project for the Altenew’s Educator Program!

Today I’m working on ink stamping another beautiful set of Altenew flowers with the appearance of watercolors.

Coral Charm…

This stunning stamp set is called “Build a Flower: Coral Charm”. It has a gorgeous flower with many layers, and it also has several pretty little blossoms and leaves.

Color Palette…

I chose Altenew‘s “Shades of Purple” Ink Set for my card today!

I started off by stamping the solid base layers with “Shades of Purple” and then built up my flowers layer by layer with the coordinating Crisp Dye Inks in that set. Altenew includes a valuable layering guide with their stamp sets to make stamping the flower layers easier to line up. So don’t be afraid to try!

Once my flowers were stamped, I stamped some leaves, also from the “Build a Flower: Coral Charm” with “Green Fields”

Putting it all Together…

I folded a piece of smoky gray cardstock to a 5″x7″, for my card base, and then stamped a piece of white cardstock with the “Soft Lilac” for my background with the outline stamps in the “Build a Flower: Coral Charm” stamp set. Then I attached it to my card base.

I attached my “Shades of Purple” floral panel on to another piece of smoky gray cardstock and then attached to my card base with double-sided adhesive to give it some dimension.

Happiness…

I stamped “Happiness is Coming Your Way”, also from the “Build a Flower: Coral Charm” stamp set, on a piece of white cardstock and attached it to a scrap piece of the smoky gray cardstock I used for my base.

Splatter & Shine…

Once my card was put together, I added a few crystal-clear enamel drops, little ink black splatter, and my “Watercolor Charm” card was finished.

Layering with Strength

Altenew AECP…

I’m so happy to be back again with another fabulously fun project for the Altenew’s Educator Program!

Today I’m doing some intricate layering with the beautiful “Strength Blooms” Bundle to create a simple but stunning card.

Intricate Layering…

So, the intricacy of layering with this beautiful stamp set is there are several layers that are included with the “Strength Blooms” Bundle. Each layer, from the base layer to the detail layer defines these lovely flowers and makes them come to life.

Color Palette…

I chose shades of blue from Altenew‘s “Deep Blue Seas” Ink Set for my card today! I love blue and seeing blue flowers always seem to get my attention. As you can see, these blues are stunning so I couldn’t resist making them the focal point of my project,

I started off by stamping the solid base layers and then built up my flowers layer by layer with Deep Blue Seas Crisp Dye Ink. Altenew includes a valuable layering guide with their stamp sets to make stamping the flower layers easier to line up. So don’t be afraid to try!

Blessed…

“Blessed to Have You in my Life” was stamped directly on the open space of my stamped Flower Panel with hybrid ink.

Putting it all Together…

I folded a piece of navy-blue cardstock for my card base and embossed a gorgeous floral on white cardstock. I attached it slightly off center on my card base and then attached my stamped flowers over the two layers with double-sided adhesive to give it some dimension and placed off center to the right to reveal the embossed cardstock.

Leaf by Leaf…

I created a few more leaves by distress ink blending and spattering a piece of white cardstock and then die cut it a few times, using Altenew Leaf Canopy Die. I attached in the leaves on three corners of my card and trimmed them to fit nicely along the edges.

Sparkle & Shine…

Once my card was put together, I added a few sequins, little ink splatter, and my “Layering with Strength” card was finished.

Layering and Masking with Altenew

Altenew AECP…

I’m so happy to be back again with another fabulously fun project for the Altenew’s Educator Program!

Today I’m working with the beautiful Build a Flower: Gardenia

Gardenias are definitely one of my favorite flowers…although, I’m pretty sure I LOVE all flowers! Especially the ones I can stamp with from Altenew! They are all GORGEOUS!

Layering & Masking…

For this project lesson, I am layering large flowers and leaves that are a little more inticate than my previous layering projects.

Color Palette…

I have to admit, I rarely make cards for men, but I wanted to created this one for a special guy!

I decided to work with Altenew‘s Soft Succulents and Fall Harvest Crisp Dye Ink in hopes it would suitable for a man as well as a women. I think these colors are perfect for everyone. What do you think? Not to mention they are fabulous Fall colors too!

I started off by stamping the solid base layers and then built up my flowers layer by layer with Fall Harvest…takes practice for sure, but once you get the hang of it, the results are beautiful!

Once I stamped the flowers on the card base, I stamped another on a separate piece of white cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die set and set it aside.

Masking…

Before I could stamp the leaves, I had to mask the flowers. I stamped the outline stamp, from the Gardenia Stamp Set, a couple of times on masking paper and hand cut them and placed them over my existing flowers.

Now I was free to stamp my leaves wherever I needed without polluting my flowers.

My leaves were stamped and layered with Altenew’s Soft Succulents Crisp Dye Inks

Putting it All Together…

Once my Leaves were in place, I attached the die cut Gardenia with foam adhesive to give it some dimension.

The background seemed a little bare so I stamped a few small random leaves from Altenew‘s Handpicked Bouquet Stamp Set, dotted a few gold clusters with a Copic marker and of course, I had to add several stunning gold sequins.

Fourth Generation Stamping with Altenew

I’m so happy to be back again with another fabulously fun project for the Altenew’s Educator Program!

For this project I am working on third and fourth generation stamping.

Build a Flower Stargazer

I decided to work with Altenew ‘s Build a Flower: Stargazer Stamp Set Bundle for this project.

Let me just say, as simple as it may look, it was a challenge for me.

My biggest challenge wasn’t the layering, or the colors, or even which image to use…it was the generation stamping without losing vibrancy.

If you have never tried 2nd, 3rd or even 4th generation stamping, you must try it.

Here’s how:

Ink up Stamp
Stamp a piece of scrap paper 2 or 3 times, without reinking
Stamp the 4th time on the the paper you will use for your final card/project

A New to Me Technique…

Sounds easy, right? So what was my problem?

Well, I’m a visual person who loves color, and admittedly, somewhat impatient! I had to keep reminding myself it was a process, and the colors will pop in the end.

Practice Practice Practice…

It’s true! After a few practice tries, I finally gave in to the process…and it worked!

Color Palette…

As you can see, I settled on the vibrant energy and warmth of shades of yellow, and the tranquility of shades of blue, as my color palette for my final card.

For the base of my card I stamped the Stargazer Lilies randomly around the card edges, in shades of blue using the 3rd and 4th generation stamping technique on a piece of white cardstock.

I spattered black ink spray to give my card base a little interest.

On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped the beautiful Stargazer Lilies, in shades of yellow, using the 3rd and 4th generation technique. I also used heat embossed the center of the Lilies and dotted them with dimensional jewels.

I then die cut the yellow Stargazer Lilies and set them aside.

Putting it All Together…

I attached the yellow Stargazer Lilies to my blue flower base, on opposite corners, top and bottom, with a double-sided adhesive to give it dimension.

I also stamped my sentiment on a separate piece of white cardstock and die cut it our using a stitched banner die and attached it to my card using double-sided adhesive.

Finishing Touches…

I added stunning gold sequins to tie the colors of my card together and my “Thinking of You” card was finished.

Layering & Heat Embossing

Altenew AECP…

I’m so happy to be back again with another fabulously fun project for the Altenew’s Educator Program!

For this project I am working on layering & heat embossing.

Crown Bloom Flowers…

I decided to work with Altenew’s “Crown Bloom” Stamp & Die Bundle for this project.

This is beautiful stamp set was a joy to work with.

Color Palette…

I chose a vibrant blue color palette to make these beauties pop.

I started off by stamping the outline images with embossing ink and then covered them with Altenew’s gorgeous “Rose Gold” Embossing Powder and heat them thoroughly with my heat gun.

Layering…

Once all my stamped images were embossed, I began to stamp the detail layers of the Crown Bloom Flowers with Altenew‘s Deep Blue Seas Crisp Dye Ink

I also stamp the leaf detail layers with Altenew‘s with Nature’s Wonders Crisp Dye Ink.

Coloring…

I also stamped and heat embossed the little blooms and buds that are a part of the “Crown Bloom” Stamp Stamp Set, but I colored them with various coordinating colors of alcohol ink markers.

Putting it All Together…

Because these gorgeous flowers are fairly large, I decided to create a slimline card so I could separate them to showcase their beauty. I set them on opposite corners on white cardstock that I die cut and splattered with watercolor droplets.

I finished up my card by stamping a sentiment from Altenew‘s Whimsical Flowers & Quotes Stamp Set and mounted my panel to a piece of aqua textured cardstock using double-sided adhesive for dimension.

Embellies…

A little metallic thread and a few gold sequins and my layering and heat embossing project was finished.
