Coffee & Friends

Coffee and Friends is definitely one of my most favorite combinations!

Yes I am a serious coffee drinker! As a matter of fact, when we visit anywhere for the first time, I immediately search for the nearest coffee shop. It’s amazing how coffee can differ in taste in various places.

We have been blessed to have a new coffee house open up near us. My son found out about it before it even opened. We were very excited and waited with considerable anticipation.

Let me just say…it was most definitely worth it! A sweet young couple own the coffee house. It’s been a pleasure getting to know them, and their small children. The atmosphere is inviting too! We to love visit and try different artisan flavors. They even named one of their masterpiece recipes after my son…true story!

Pumpkin Spice…

Because of my love for coffee, I illustrated this digi stamp for my Digi Doodle Studios digi stamp line of chic and feminine girls.

Meet Pumpkin Spice! She is one of my original Fall inspired illustrations for creating handmade cards, or adding to scrapbook pages, and many other paper crafting projects.

Challenge Theme…

We have a new monthly themed challenge going on over at Digi Doodle Studios Challenge Blog. The theme this month is “Black and/or Purple. I love this color combo, so I decided to use both colors for my card.

Let’s Get Started…

To get my project started, I sized, printed, and cut my image using my die cutting machine.

As you can see in the print, I actually originally cut my image out with an offset but changed my mind after I colored her.

Time to Color…

Now for the fun part!

I really like the Autumn/Winter feel of this image, so I decided use a few deep, rich Copic colors (full supply list below)

The challenge called for purple and/or black, so I dove right in and selected paper from my Digi Doodle Studios “Masquerade Ball” Digi Paper Pack

Don’t be alarmed by the difference in colors when printing out your digi papers. I have two different printers, and each one prints colors differently. You can usually play around with the printer settings to get a better color quality. I really like how my paper printed for this project, so I didn’t change the settings.

There are many perks to printing your own digi papers. Particularly, you never run out, you can print only what’s needed, and the only storage space it occupies is on your computer.

In my experience, it really doesn’t use as much ink as one would think.

The Perfect Blend

I chose a sentiment from my Digi Doodles “Coffee Anyone” Sentiment Collection. There are several that could have worked with this card, but this one resonated with me.

I decided to create a bridge card whereby my image connects the top and bottom portion of the front cover, allowing for the sentiment to be visible when open or closed.

I cut a few strips from my scraps and added color coordinating dots with my marker to tie the separated pieces together.

I added an adorable die cut coffee-to-go cup, a few coordinating flowers, enamel dots, and some fabulous cording, from my stash, which just happen to bear the perfect colors for my project. Love when that happens!

With that, my challenge card was finished!

I have to say, as much as I love summer, creating this card has made me excited for Fall! Let the Pumpkin Spice begin!

I hope I have inspired you today to created something fun and fabulous!
