Happy Halloween Friends!
Welcome back to my Studio!
No Never Scary…
If you know me at all, you know that I don’t celebrate Halloween. BUT…I do LOVE creating Halloween themed projects, images, and especially, handmade cards.
Scary is definitely not my thing, but I do so love the cute, and “happy” side of Halloween. I also really enjoy vibrant, and sometimes untraditional, Halloween colors.
Halloween Happiness…
Today, I am sharing a little bit of Halloween Happiness with my last Halloween card for 2020. I created this card using Digi Doodle Studios Blair, Paulina & Hazel Halloween Digi Stamp.

As you can see, Blair is just a sweet little witch, not meant to scare, or frighten anyone. I illustrated her to bring a smile and the reminder of the sweet side of Halloween.
Let’s Get Started…
I sized, printed, and cut my image using my die cutting machine (full supply list below). Once cut to the size I wanted, I colored it with Copic Markers.

The Wonky Halloween Digi Paper Pack seemed to be the perfect collection for this project. I already had my paper printed from my “Tonight We Fly” Batty Bats post.
I guess it’s a good thing I am a paper addict, because having left over paper made my selection easy to figure out which ones fit this image best.

Once I had my paper selected, I began to design my layout. I wanted to place Blair on a white oval because she is long image compared to others. But, at the same time, I didn’t want my image to look too stark against all the black that I was using. So, I decided to add some vibrant watercolors around my image to make her stand out.

I really liked how the watercolors looked and decided to tie everything together by bringing these vibrant colors out onto my card base. You may not be able to notice it from the picture, but I also added some sparkle to the background color.

IMHO: I prefer to work with a limited color palette, usually anywhere from 4-7 colors, with the exception of skin tones, and depending on my project. Working with a limited palette helps to tie my work together better, and helps to make my images pop.
Using double-sided foam adhesive, I attached my image to the scalloped ovals to give my card a little dimension.

I also added decorative corners to the edges of my card, several drops of coordinating enamel dots, and placed a black polka dot ribbon behind my image, which I wrapped around the first layer of pattern papers.
But, I really wanted to add a sentiment without taking away from my card cover, so I decided to decorate the inside of my card as well.

I printed out my sentiment using a similar technique that I discussed in my “A Wickedly Good Friend” Post, and die cut it with a scalloped oval die cut.
The inside of my card still needed to be coordinated with the front card design. I decided to do it up a little by die cutting a star pattern. I also attached a strip of the striped pattern paper, that I used in the front of the card, as well as a strip of pink pattern paper to the bottom panel.

And my my Halloween Happiness card was finished!
I hope I have inspired you today to try something new, or simply create something Fabulously Heart-Warming to bring you, or someone else, a little bit of joy for the moment.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
