**UPDATE**
I’m excited to say that “Beach-aholic Message in a Bottle” made it into the Summer issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine!

Rainbow Sky…
I guess at some point I’m going to have to admit that Summer is really over…but NOT today!
Being a self-proclaimed “Beach-aholic”, I couldn’t resist creating this super fun shaker card design using Digi Doodles fabulous “Rainbow Sky” digi stamp!

I wanted to create somewhat of a background scene for this card, but I didn’t want anything too traditional. So, I opted for a little bit of whimsy.
Distressing….
I decided to create the water portion of my card using my distress oxide inks. They are so much fun to work with, and I love the “almost mystery” of what I will end up with each time.

Instead of blending these inks on the paper, I smudged them on my craft mat and sprayed them with water. I took a piece of white card stock and gently pressed it on the ink puddles, randomly rotating my paper with each press.
I dried my paper with a heat gun and repeated the process two or three times, until I was satisfied with results.
Shake Shake Shake…

Die Cut Design…
I used a Silhouette Design Store bottle die cut to create my shaker bottle. I had to cut out the outline of the bottle a few times to achieve the depth I wanted. I used white textured paper for a finished outline and attached a piece of clear acetate after filling my bottle with sequins, sparkles and confetti.
I cut the bottle cork out with a piece of Kraft paper and speckled it with Copic markers, and a white gel pen, to give it a textured look.

Coloring…
I cut out “Rainbow Sky” and colored her with Copic Markers and watercolors and used a white gel pen to bring our some highlights to my image.

Bringing it all Together…
I added my sun rays background and blended a little color around the edges to tie everything together. I also cut two pieces of sand elements out so I could place one slightly over the bottle. I added a couple of tags, my sentiment and several other fun embellishments and my card was done.
I hope I have inspired you today to try something new, or simply create something Fabulously Heart-Warming to bring you, or someone else, a little bit of joy for the moment.
